Community and Schools Program

At the Cat Protection Society, we don't just hang out with our whiskered buddies at the Adoption Shelter.

Oh-no, we also offer Community Outreach Programs where community and school groups can visit our adoption shelter, or alternatively, we can come to you! Regardless of whether hosted at ours or yours, our Community Outreach Programs, which include a Responsible Cat Ownership Education Program and Community Visits, aim to increase awareness of responsible cat ownership and build awareness of the work of CPSV.

Responsible Cat Ownership:

Picture this – students engaged, cats purring, and everyone learning about responsible cat ownership! Our Responsible Cat Ownership Sessions are like cat-tastic field trips for primary and secondary school students. Whether they visit us, or we come to them, we’ve got activities and presentations that’ll make their tails twitch with excitement. Plus, it’s not just fun – it’s educational too! We can even tie our program into the Victorian Curriculum for Prep to Year 6.

Incursions: Our incursions (where a member of the CPSV team visits you) are available for schools in Banyule and Nillumbik and are 30-40minutes in duration with a maximum of 30 students or 1 class per session.

Excursions / You come to us: We welcome primary and secondary schools Victoria wide, however travel to and from our Greensborough based Adoption Shelter will need to be arranged and paid for by the school. Excursions hosted at our Adoption Shelter include a tour of our Adoption Shelter followed by a presentation which combined, is 1 hour in total. We can cater for a maximum of 30 students with appropriate supervision to be organised by the school.

Community Visits:

Meow-tastic Moments. If you’re up for a paw-some adventure, come and spend time with us at our Adoption Shelter. We’ll show you around, let you meet some of our fabulous felines, and even throw in some cat enrichment activities! Oh, and did we mention you can treat yourself to some delicious morning or afternoon tea with a coffee / tea / milkshake? It’s the purr-fect way to spend an hour with friends while supporting our cause.

Just remember, our Community Visits are weekdays only, but trust us, it’s worth rearranging your schedule for!

Our Community Visits can cater for groups of up to 10 people and are 1 hour in duration. These visits are fantastic for Local Community and Aged Care Groups.
