Will you share the gifts of comfort, care, joy & health with stray & surrendered cats this Christmas?

A not-so festive season

Hundreds of stray and surrendered cats and kittens will spend this festive season at The Cat Protection Society of Victoria’s (CPSV) Adoption Shelter. Instead of cuddling up in a safe, warm home with the loving affection of a forever family, many will be left feeling lonely, afraid and uncertain about the future.

Your chance to share some love and joy

With a donation this Christmas, you can share the most precious gift of all with the cats and kittens at the CPSV Adoption Shelter: the gift of love. Your gift can help cover the cost of vet treatment and respite foster care as well as things to make them feel comfortable and cared for like a warm, cosy bed and toys to play with. Your compassion and generosity will make sure every cat gets the chance they deserve to feel the magic of Christmas, whether though comfort, health or hope in a forever home.

Meet some of the adorable cats you could help this Christmas.

Bennett

When little Bennett came into the CPSV’s care in March this year, he was incredibly shy, terrified of people and completely lacking in confidence.

Just two years old, Bennett had likely spent his whole life alone, fighting for survival on the streets. He was brought into the shelter by a member of the public who found him in their home desperately seeking food and shelter.

After a short stint in foster care, Bennett returned to our Adoption Shelter where sadly he struggled to cope. Still traumatised by his earlier experiences, he was too anxious to eat.

For Bennett that meant more time at the Shelter, getting the specialised care and support he needed. Now, Bennett waits, hoping for a family who will open their hearts and give him the love he’s never known but so deeply deserves.

The total cost to care for Bennett has exceeded $2450.

Will you donate today to help make sure cats like Bennett feel loved and cared for this Christmas?

Carrot

When Carrot first arrived at the Shelter, he was just six weeks old. Despite his adorable personality and zest for life, routine veterinary checks soon revealed he was very unwell.

Whatever Carrot ate made him sick. That meant he couldn’t gain the nutrition he needed to grow and thrive.

Carrot was diagnosed with gastro-intestinal issues. He has since spent the last six months at the Shelter and in our Foster Care program, undergoing intensive testing with different medications and food.

Carrot still needs a special diet for his sensitive tummy, so his issues don’t flare up again. Sadly, that’s meant he’s had to spend his whole kittenhood in the Shelter’s care.

This energetic, playful and cheeky kitten desperately wants to start a new life in a loving forever home with a caring family. Sadly, that’s very unlikely to happen in time for Christmas.

The total cost to care for Carrot has now exceeded $1640

Your kindness could help ensure cats like Carrot feel the magic of Christmas.

Jeremy

Little Jeremy was just six weeks old when he arrived at the CPSV shelter in May this year. Part of a litter born in a backyard shed, Jeremy’s mum had left him to fend for himself at just six weeks of age.

When Jeremy first came into the shelter’s care, he was barely clinging to life. Tests quickly revealed he had heart disease, which required urgent and ongoing treatment.

Understandably, Jeremy’s early experiences of life left him feeling deeply anxious. The only time he felt comfortable and relaxed was when he is in the company of one of his litter mates. The need to be with his siblings along with his complex health situation means he will likely have to wait longer to find a loving family who are willing and able to adopt him.

The total cost to care for Jeremy has now exceeded $1500.

Atticus

Atticus was surrendered into the CPSV’s care in August this year when his owners couldn’t afford the health care he needed. Veterinary checks soon revealed that Atticus had a blocked bladder and needed emergency surgery.

Since his ordeal, Atticus has remained in the care of the Adoption Shelter team and still needs a specialist diet and care to manage his condition. Given his complex health history, and his shy, anxious personality, it’s going to take a little longer to match Atticus with the forever family that can best meet his needs and help him to thrive.

The total cost to care for Atticus has now exceeded $3200

Your support this Christmas can help Atticus find the love and care he deserves.

How your donation could help this Christmas

  • Your gift could provide a frightened, lonely cat with toys to keep them entertained and happy on Christmas morning.
  • You could also help cover the cost of a cosy bed or igloo, so an abandoned cat has a safe, warm place to rest during the festive season.
  • A donation from you today could help provide vital vet care, helping a sick or injured cat to heal and become healthy and strong enough to be ready for adoption.
  • And your support could help fund temporary respite in foster care, giving an abandoned and lonely cat a much-needed break from Shelter life.

Your compassion and generosity today can help make sure every cat in our care feels the magic of Christmas – whether through comfort, health or hope in a forever home.

I can’t think of a kinder gift you could share with cats this Christmas like Bennett, Carrot, Jeremy and Atticus.
