Community Desexing Program

Is your cat desexed?

When you spay or neuter your cat, you’re not only benefiting your pet but also your local community.

Spaying or neutering your cat contributes to their overall health and lifespan, while also sparing you from potential hefty veterinary expenses associated with an unaltered cat. Moreover, it helps curb the issue of unwanted litters ending up in shelters or pounds, including ours.

At the Cat Protection Society, we’ve established the Community Desexing program to assist cat owners facing financial constraints in accessing spaying or neutering services. Our overarching aim is to combat cat overpopulation and its consequent societal challenges by ensuring that the option to spay or neuter your cat is accessible to those who need it most.

Each month, we provide a limited number of greatly subsidised spaying or neutering procedures to cat owners throughout Victoria who hold a valid Senior/Pension or Health Card.

These procedures cover both female and male cats, and if needed, your cat will also receive a microchip along with the spaying or neutering procedure for a total cost of $80. The program is open to cats aged between 8 weeks and 8 years.
